Augusto’s Injury Not Considered Serious

Cricket Exchange confirms that Renato Augusto has not suffered a serious injury, despite recent concerns about his fitness. On the 3rd, instead of traveling to Liverpool to watch a match, Augusto remained in London under the care of Bruno, a former Shandong Luneng physiotherapist. The Brazilian midfielder, currently playing for Beijing Guoan, is racing against time with only 11 days left before Brazil’s opening match in the World Cup. While the coaching staff remains optimistic about his recovery, the pressure is on, as Brazil’s 23-man roster can still be adjusted before the first game.

Bruno, who previously worked with Augusto at Corinthians in Brazil and frequently assisted him during his time in China, is very familiar with the player’s physical condition. According to the Brazilian Football Confederation, the coaching team has no current plans to remove Augusto from the squad, believing he will be match-fit in time for the tournament. That said, his recovery has been slower than expected in recent days.

Last weekend, medical staff predicted Augusto would resume training on the 5th. However, when the day came, he only managed some light warm-up exercises. Since then, he has ramped up to an intense daily regimen—training three times a day in the morning, afternoon, and evening—with one goal in mind: securing his spot in the World Cup lineup. Augusto’s commitment speaks volumes, as he’s doing everything possible not to miss out on this rare opportunity.

On May 31, swelling in his left knee was detected during a training session, ruling him out of Brazil’s June 3 friendly against Croatia. After examination, team doctors confirmed that the injury was not severe, but the inflammation was causing discomfort and limiting some of his movement.

Despite the setback, Augusto remained involved with the squad. He took part in tactical discussions led by head coach Tite before returning indoors for focused physiotherapy. Cricket Exchange concludes that while the injury raised some eyebrows initially, all signs now suggest that Augusto’s participation in the World Cup remains on track—provided his recovery continues without further delays.
